A leader in the firm's Multi-Unit Succession and Transition (MUST) group, Scott works with multi-unit retail business owners helping them solve the unique legal challenges to structuring their exit plan. The process combines Scott's skills and experience with the firm's strengths in the areas of taxation, estate planning, corporate finance, franchise and mergers and acquisitions to provide a targeted and effective exit plan.
Prior to joining the firm, Scott focused on transactions and tax planning for businesses and individuals as a tax specialist for the international accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Scott then served as assistant tax counsel for Wells Fargo where he performed federal tax planning and was involved in the resolution of tax controversies.
Scott contributes to franchise industry publications and has been honored by Franchise Times as one of franchising's top 125 "Legal Eagles." He has been named a "FIVE STAR: Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager" for 2008-2012 by MplsSt.Paul Magazine and Twin Cities Business Monthly. In addition, Scott has been recognized as a "Rising Star" in the legal profession and listed in "Who's Who in Trust/Estate Planning Law" by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine.
Graduating with a B.A. degree from St. Olaf College, Scott
earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, at William Mitchell
College of Law.
